Building a Bloomberg for Procurement (part 1)
Author: Mark Perera - Categories: Procurement Intelligence

Since launching the Procurement Leaders Network back in 2004, there have been a number of occasions that I have discussed the concept of building a “Bloomberg for Procurement” with my team; however it never progressed much further than a sketch in my notepad.
That all changed when I sat down with the team at the end of last year to review the feedback of our readers /members survey. The results were clear, our community were requesting us to provide them with a central source of market intelligence, to help them make more informed business decisions.
Further analysis and discussion with a handful of very clued up procurement leaders followed, allowing us to breakdown the requirements into three main areas;
- Daily Insight
- Operational intelligence
- Executive strategy
All being underwritten by best in class case studies, toolkits, benchmarking services and networking events.
So six months later I am pleased to announce the launch of the Procurement Intelligence Unit (PIU), an all-encompassing market intelligence resource for procurement executives and professionals. The ultimate plan is to make the PIU an essential resource for procurement, as Bloomberg is to the financial markets. It’s an ambitious goal, however, by focusing on customer needs and bringing in the best talent, I believe it is achievable.
I look forward to your support.
Mark
